Talking COVID 19 – Navigating Employment Law Challenges

On 5 May I had the opportunity to present a webinar for the City of Greater Bendigo and BE.Bendigo, talking about employment law challenges during COVID-19.

I enjoyed sharing my thoughts on how businesses can work within the employment law framework to make changes to the way their business operates, to help manage through this difficult time. With the recent introduction of the JobKeeper scheme and changes to some Awards, many businesses now have more flexibility around staffing to downsize or shift focus, until things start returning to normal. I also discussed the challenges some businesses may face if they need to make staff redundant and touched on what makes a redundancy genuine.  I also discussed OHS obligations and how businesses can practically manage the risk of COVID-19 from a workplace health and safety perspective.

I hope that the webinar will provide all businesses with an overview of some of the recent changes in employment law and how they could potentially be used within your business, as you adapt and respond to COVID-19.
